Get a taste of Japanese culture<\/a><\/strong> with various Japanese foods, live music, entertainment, a ramen eating contest, anime cosplay contest, fun activities<\/strong>, and more!<\/p>\n

Don’t miss this incredible, family-friendly Japanese cultural experience from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.<\/strong> September 3<\/strong> at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As a place for imparting Japanese culture and local area vitalization Shin-Sen-Gumi<\/a><\/strong> holds several events since our conception, such as the mochitsuki ceremony during the New Year’s holiday, Children’s Day, Father\u2019s Day, Mother’s Day and more but most important event held is the “Summer Festival”. During the Summer Festival, various guests, entertainers and crew are flown in from Japan to enliven the festival.<\/p>\n

This year is extremely special as Shin-Sen-Gumi celebrates three decades<\/strong> of providing traditional Japanese cuisine throughout Southern California. Guests will be able to join in the fun for just $1<\/strong> \u2013 with all admission proceeds going to the City of Torrance’s educational efforts.<\/strong> Once inside, food from more than 50 of the best Japanese vendors will be available \u2013 including a ramen eating contest with a $1,000 grand prize<\/strong> \u2013 along with live entertainment including Japanese favorites likes “Kirishima Kumen Taiko<\/strong> Preservation Society” Mayumi Hashimoto, Kazuma Tei, Yoshitaka Nogata (Chairman of Yamato Taiko Preservation Society, Honorary Chairman of Saga Prefecture Taiko Union, Chairman of All Kyushu Taiko Union),<\/strong> and lastly, Samurai Drums Monsters NOBUSHI<\/strong> on the main stage throughout the day.<\/p>\n

The ultimate goal of Shin-Sen-Gumi’s 30th anniversary festival is to promote a positive cultural exchange, calling for world peace, harmony and prosperity<\/strong>. And of course to celebrate wonderful Japanese food and culture.<\/p>\n
