3 classic restaurants in Downtown LA

Check out these 3 classic restaurants in Downtown LA where you’ll enjoy delicious dishes and cocktails made with love in a beautiful ambiance.

Engine Co. No. 28

A former Los Angeles Fire Department fire station on Figueroa Street in Downtown Los Angeles, Engine Company Engine Company No. 28 is a restaurant which serves the food based on recipes from American fire houses.

Housed in a beautifully restored 1912 firehouse, the Engine Company No. 28 has been serving the menu “signature” Meatloaf, New York Steak, Southern-style pan-fried chicken, crab cakes, Cobb salad, and Firehouse chili from 1989.

The weekly chef “specials” include fresh grilled fish such as salmon, sea bass and seasonal vegetables. Try their daily soups like corn chowder, chicken tortilla lime, tomato basil, broccoli and many other rotating favorites.

With its mahogany booths, white linen tables, granite bar and original brass fire pole the restaurant is reminiscent of the classic grills of San Francisco and New York.

Hours: Monday through Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.

Faith & Flower

The name of the restaurant comes from the two major renaissance periods — the 1920s and modern day — that have fundamentally shaped the Downtown Los Angeles community, with “Flower” referring to the street on which the restaurant lies today, and “Faith” for the street’s alleged name during the early 1920s.

The restaurant features a wood fired oven and pristine raw bar and offers dishes full of flavors with fresh ingredients. They are also offering cocktails with long-forgotten ingredients as well as modern signature drinks. It’s a perfect place for a casual brunch or snack and a refreshing cocktail or a full on feast with friends and family.

Perch

Here you can relax on a French-inspired rooftop bistro and enjoy beautiful views of Downtown Los Angeles. Perch features two outdoor fireplaces, various fire pits, lounge and table seating both indoors and out.

The restaurant provides a beautiful ambiance with its antique-inspired furniture, plush lounge couches and incredibly detailed woodwork.

We recommend their pan roasted salmon with smoked eggplant puree, vegetables provencal and artichoke chips. If you have a sweet tooth, try their white chocolate bread pudding with bourbon caramel glaze. They also offer a wide variety of sweet and refreshing cocktails.
